The ER20 is a small, portable, and handy device with many uses and can be helpful in many different situations. It will be an ideal piece of equipment for expeditions, both to unfamiliar places and more obvious ones. Whether relaxing by the lake, hiking in the mountains, hiking in the woods, camping far from the city, or in the midst of unexpected events, this radio will serve as a medium for receiving radio stations and the latest news, but it can also be used as a flashlight, reading lamp, or power bank to charge your smartphone.
The ER20 features a dual-band PLL digital radio tuner that receives programs broadcast on the FM and AM bands. The FM frequency range is 87.5-108.0 MHz and the AM range is 522-1620 kHz. You can switch bands using the mode button on the front panel, and you can tune in to your desired station using the previous or next buttons on the front of the device. An automatic radio station programming function is available: simply press and hold the PROG button, and the device will automatically scan and program available radio stations. If you want to program radio stations in your own order, you can do so manually. Up to 50 radio stations can be stored in the FM band, and 20 in the AM band. The current frequency can be checked on the LED display, also located on the main panel.
To ensure the best possible radio reception, a built-in telescopic antenna is included, which can be easily extended and rotated in any direction.
The radio features a clock with an alarm. Alarms can be set via a buzzer or by automatically turning on a radio station. A sleep timer is also available. You can select a specific time period from 15 to 90 minutes, after which the radio will automatically turn off.
The ER20 can emit a loud SOS alarm signal. This feature is useful if the user gets lost in the woods and needs help. The volume of the SOS alarm signal is 110 dB. This truly loud signal will help locate a lost person and significantly facilitate the work of emergency services.
This radio also features a built-in flashlight with three lighting modes. The first mode provides spotlighting, with a longer range. The second mode offers a more diffused light, with a wider, but slightly shorter, range than the first mode. The third mode combines spotlighting with diffused lighting, allowing for the best effect.
In addition to the flashlight, there’s also a reading light built into the solar panel. It features twelve bright LEDs and automatically turns on when the solar panel is lifted.
The ER20 is powered by a built-in 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery and features a triple charging system. A standard USB-C charging port is located on the rear of the case, under a silicone cover. A suitable cable is included, which can be connected to any smartphone charger or other power source that offers a 5V, 1A charging current. A full charge takes approximately 4-5 hours.
In emergency situations where there is no access to mains power, two further charging options can be used: via a 68×26 mm solar panel, which is built into the top of the housing, or via a built-in crank generator.
When charging using a solar panel, a full charge can be achieved after approximately 60 hours of exposure to direct sunlight. However, remember to avoid completely discharging the battery beforehand.
When using the crank charging method, you can also use the flashlight to illuminate the area. After approximately 360 revolutions, the generated power can be sufficient for approximately 30 minutes of radio use at a moderate volume level or for illuminating the road with the flashlight.
Depending on the volume level, a fully charged battery will last for approximately 10-15 hours of radio use.
The LED display provides an approximate battery level indicator, allowing you to monitor the battery status at all times.
If you find yourself in an emergency and need to recharge your smartphone, the ER20 offers this feature. Simply connect your phone to the USB port located on the back of the case and wait for its battery to absorb the energy stored in the device’s battery.
