In contrast, the top lid and keyboard frame are made from 50% recycled aluminium on the Storm Grey models. Both models have a bottom cover made from 55% recycled aluminium, and the speaker, battery and AC adapter housings are made from recycled plastic. The packaging is completely plastic-free and consists of 90% recycled and/or sustainable materials.

Devices are tested against 12 military standards and more than 200 quality control tests to ensure they perform in extreme conditions from the Arctic wilderness to desert sandstorms. These tests cover harsh environmental variables, including temperature, pressure, dust, humidity and vibration tests.
